It’s produced by taking our Brother David’s Triple wort from the kettle and adding it to wine barrels to ferment with our Horse Tongue Wheat sour culture. That’s right: no brewer’s yeast or stainless steel here; it’s 100% barrel-fermented with wild yeast and bacteria. After primary fermentation has ended (several months or more), a healthy dose of black currants is added, providing natural sugars to encourage additional fermentation. It will spend upwards of a year or more in the barrel until it has matured and reached the perfect balance of sourness and complexity. The resulting beer is a deep burgundy color with a bracing sourness and subtle sweetness with hints of oak, dark fruit, and wild berry. $15 each or 3 for $40

Just about a year, ago a friend of a local brewer was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The onset and progression of this disease has been rapid and the adjustment a difficult one. Most all diagnosed with the disease eventually lose the ability to walk, use their hands, speak, swallow, and breathe. In January, she was forced to quit her job. With that in mind, several local breweries joined together to brew a beer to help support the family and the local ALS chapter. Because there is no cure for ALS, all care management focuses on treating symptoms and providing support with the goal of simply improving quality of life and prolonging survival. Andi’s Legacy is a hazy IPA made with Azacca, Lotus, and Sabro. The tapestry of flavors present bright tangerine and vanilla, a hint of pineapple, rounding with coconut and mint. With a medium-medium-light body, with very little bitterness, and finishing with a 6.3% ABV, everyone can enjoy it! This hits close to home to us in the Krafty Family as we have lost 2 loved ones to this devastating disease. Join us along with Angry Fish Brewing Co., Cottontown Brew Lab, Swamp Cabbage Brewing, Craft & Draft (Devine & Irmo), and Random Tap in our efforts to support a fantastic cause and raise a glass of Andi’s Legacy in an effort provide support, improve awareness, and search for a cure.

A mix of dark malts gives Siren Noire a well-rounded body that is decidedly chocolatey—but without being extraordinarily sweet. Brewers Gold hops contribute an earthy spiciness, with notes of black current. View: Beers |
